A mix-up involving a shipping company led to the theft of nine pallets of Amazon deliveries, with a total value exceeding $23,000. The incident occurred on the night of August 31st when the packages were mistakenly delivered to a business on Robison Road instead of the Oaklawn Post Office.
According to a postal service employee, the packages, initially intended for the post office, were stolen from the business's loading dock before arrangements could be made to transport them to their correct destination.
Assigned to the case, Detective Warren Smith wasted no time in tracking down leads. Utilizing surveillance video footage from the business, Detective Smith identified several individuals responsible for the theft. The suspects were determined to be either employees of the business or individuals closely associated with the company.
Nine individuals have been arrested and booked into the Bi-State Jail on charges of Theft over $2,500. They are identified as Saudiea Carter (45), Brittany Baker (28), Sarah Easley (29), Danni Hensley (23), Curtis Jones (24), Lacy Pollins (28), Michael Rucker (29), Dillon Shaw (23), and Desiree Shields (23). As of the latest update, Hensley, Jones, and Shields have been released on a $30,000 bail, while the remaining suspects remain in custody.
Despite the significant challenges, Detective Smith has managed to recover 233 of the 577 stolen items. The investigation is ongoing, and further arrests are anticipated in the coming days.
