Jermaine Tyrelle Hooks (25) and Chelsea Lashaun Davis (25) have been arrested in connection with the death of Davis' 23-month-old daughter, announced the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
The incident came to light on July 2, 2023, when the Mount Pleasant Police Department received distressing information about the death of a 23-month-old child. The toddler had been rushed to Children's Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Following the report, a comprehensive investigation was initiated by law enforcement officials, spurred by the severity of the child's injuries. The investigation eventually led authorities to establish probable cause for the arrests of Davis and Hooks.
On October 12, 2023, a Titus County grand jury indicted Hooks for the Capital murder of a child under 10 years old. Simultaneously, a warrant was issued for Davis for Interference with Public Duties.
Action was taken on Thursday, October 12, 2023, when officers and detectives from the Mount Pleasant Police Department apprehended Hooks and Davis. Both suspects were taken into custody and subsequently booked into the Titus County Jail.
