Titus County Man Arrested in Connection with Hunting Camp Burglary

In a recent development, Titus County Sheriff’s Deputies successfully apprehended a suspect linked to a burglary at a hunting camp near County Road 1905 and Sulphur River that occurred on June 11th of this year.

The incident involved thieves breaking into a building at the hunting camp and making off with a significant amount of property, including a Kawasaki side by side ATV, firearms, archery equipment, hunting apparel, and even an outdoor grill. Investigators revealed that another side by side ATV was used during the burglary, suggesting at least two perpetrators were involved.

Following the incident, Titus County Investigators launched a thorough effort to trace the culprits. Their intensive work, including the use of social media, paid off when a tipster provided crucial information that led investigators to the location of the stolen side by side ATV. Subsequently, law enforcement officials were able to recover nearly all of the stolen property, including the firearms.

The investigation led to the identification of a suspect, 50-year-old Titus County resident Troy Lynn Blackwell. With a warrant for his arrest, deputies apprehended Blackwell at his residence on CR 1905 this morning, October 13th, 2023, without any complications. An ongoing investigation aims to identify any other individuals involved in the burglary.

Blackwell is currently held in the Titus County Jail, awaiting arraignment on charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, a Third Degree Felony, Burglary of a building, a State Jail Felony, and Theft of a firearm, also a State Jail Felony.
