K9 Officer Finds Meth and Fentanyl After Deputy Stops Suspect in Gun Barrel City

A routine traffic stop conducted by Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jared Mills on Friday in the Gun Barrel City area of Henderson County resulted in the arrest of two individuals on drug-related charges.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Hayden Parks, was pulled over by Deputy Mills. A female passenger was also present in the vehicle. Deputy Mills called for assistance from Henderson County Sheriff’s Office K9 Deputy Edwin Rodriguez and his partner K9 Valco. Valco, the trained police dog, conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle and alerted to the presence of something suspicious.

Following the K9 alert, a search of the vehicle was conducted. Inside, law enforcement discovered a quantity of suspected methamphetamine and suspected fentanyl. Parks was promptly arrested for possession of a controlled substance and was taken into custody. He is currently being held at the Henderson County Jail, awaiting arraignment on the charges.

Additionally, the female passenger, who has not been named, was found to have outstanding arrest warrants. She was also arrested at the scene and has been transported to the county jail.
