A routine police stop in Paris turned into a dramatic pursuit when officers attempted to apprehend Christopher Basham, a wanted suspect, on Sunday afternoon, October 1, 2023.
At approximately 1:06 PM, a Paris Police officer stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of NW 9th Street, suspecting it to be occupied by Christopher Basham. Upon being questioned, Basham provided a false name and denied his true identity. Swiftly evading the officer, Basham fled the scene, leading law enforcement on a chase that culminated in his capture in the 700 block of W. Kaufman Street.
Basham now faces multiple charges, including Evading Arrest, Failure to Identify, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Additionally, the police revealed that Basham was wanted on two active warrants. The first warrant, issued on December 29, 2022, was related to a charge of Fail to Identify by Giving False/Fictitious Information. The second warrant, dated 2021, was in connection to charges of burglary, criminal mischief, and theft of mail.
