On September 30, 2023, Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a call in the 12200 block of W. Village Drive, near Aldine Mail Route and Eastex Freeway, where they discovered a 48-year-old woman with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was allegedly shot by her 55-year-old husband, Ever Navarrete, who fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
The victim was transported to a local hospital; however, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead later on. According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, preliminary investigations suggest that the couple was in the process of a divorce, and the incident occurred as the woman was in the midst of moving out.
Sheriff Gonzalez stated, "When the husband found out that she was here at this location, he came here tonight, confronted her and opened fire on her, firing multiple shots at her and obviously striking her." He further emphasized the gravity of the situation, urging the public to be aware of the seriousness of domestic disputes, as they can escalate rapidly, leading to devastating outcomes.
Law enforcement authorities are actively searching for Navarrete, who fled the location in a white GMC Sierra pickup bearing Texas license plate number PBV-3006.
Navarrete has been charged with Murder for the shooting death of his wife.
