In the early hours of Saturday, at approximately 12:50 AM, Panola County Dispatch received distressing 911 calls reporting a shooting incident on Front Street in Beckville. According to the callers, a father and son were involved, and the shooter remained at the scene.
Prompt response followed as Panola County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) Deputies, Beckville Volunteer Fire Department (VFD), and UT Health EMS were dispatched to the location. Investigators processed the scene, gathering crucial evidence, and interviewed witnesses to piece together the events.
Ray Dell Rollins was apprehended by authorities and subsequently charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Rollins was arrested without incident and has been taken to the Detention Center.
The victim, who sustained injuries in the incident, was attended to by emergency medical services. He was initially transported by ambulance to UT Health Carthage and later airlifted to another medical facility to receive a higher level of care. Currently, the victim is reported to be in stable condition.
Rollins bond was set at $20,000. He bonded out of jail on September 30, 2023.
