Bonham Police Officers were faced with a life-threatening situation when responding to an incident at the entrance of Bonham Chrysler Dodge Jeep on May 6, 2023.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers encountered an armed man who eventually pointed his firearm at them, leaving them with no choice but to protect themselves and others. In the line of duty and in self-defense, officers were compelled to use deadly force, resulting in the individual's death.
The incident underwent a thorough investigation led by the Texas Rangers, with the culmination of their findings presented to the Fannin County grand jury on September 21, 2023. After a comprehensive review of the evidence, the grand jury unanimously concluded that the officers' use of deadly force was justified, vindicating their actions.
Following this decision, both officers involved in the incident have returned to full active duty, as they continue to serve the Bonham community.
