In a heart-wrenching incident on the evening of September 18, 2023, Marshall Emergency Communications received a distress call at 6:40 p.m. reporting that a child had been struck by a vehicle in the 2000 block of Lower Port Caddo Road in Marshall, Texas. The child was riding a battery-powered toy car when the accident occurred.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the incident remained at the scene, cooperating with law enforcement officials. As of now, no charges have been filed against the driver.
The investigation is ongoing.
Marshall Police Chief Cliff Carruth expressed his condolences, saying, "It is a tragedy to lose a child in our community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this incredibly difficult time."
