The City of Winnsboro's police department is undergoing a significant transformation with the recent departure of three of its key members as of Tuesday afternoon.
In an official statement issued by the City of Winnsboro's City Administrator, Makenzie Lyons, it was confirmed that Chief of Police Andy Chester has been placed on administrative leave and has opted for immediate retirement. Additionally, Captain Chris Hill was placed on leave before submitting his resignation, effective today. Patrol Sergeant Blake McClure has also tendered his resignation but was not placed on administrative leave.
Despite these developments, Lyons refrained from divulging specific reasons for placing the individuals on leave or the motivations behind their decisions to retire or resign. She did, however, emphasize that none of the departed members were currently under investigation.
