An elderly gentleman lost his life in a pedestrian accident on September 1, 2023. The incident unfolded at approximately 9:30 P.M. on State Highway 78 in Bailey, Texas.
Authorities, including Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Bailey Fire, the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), reacted promptly to a distress call reporting the accident.
Following a comprehensive investigation, the DPS has released their findings regarding the tragic incident. According to their report, the victim has been identified as 87-year-old Kenneth Duckworth. He was walking along the northern edge of Highway 78, an area devoid of streetlights, when he was struck by a passing vehicle.
Justice of the Peace Bob Clemons, upon arrival at the scene, pronounced Mr. Duckworth deceased as a result of his injuries.
