Wood County Sheriff's Office Incident Reports Week of August 23-29

August 23

Deputy Comeaux responded to a report of a suspicious person on County Road 4631. A male had approached a residence, asking for a resident's wife. Neither the homeowner nor his wife knew the man. Deputies were unable to locate the individual.

Sgt Mayer was dispatched to a theft at Lake Quitman. The victim reported that two females had stolen items from him. Deputies successfully located and returned all the stolen items to the owner.

Deputy Rapp handled a request to speak by phone. The caller informed her that her ex had sent her a video he recorded without her consent and was threatening to post it online unless she returned an item he believed she had stolen. The case has been forwarded to the Investigations unit.

August 24

Deputy Skinner was dispatched to a disturbance on Private Road 5750. By the time deputies arrived, the suspect had already left the scene. Although neither party wished to pursue charges, the female requested that the male be criminally trespassed from the property.

Sgt Mayer provided assistance to Quitman PD, who were dealing with a disturbance where the suspect attempted to flee in a vehicle. Deputies successfully detained the male until Quitman PD took control of the situation.

Deputy Rapp responded to Jarvis for a damaged property call. After speaking with both parties involved, it was determined that neither wished to press charges, as both had contributed to the damage.

August 25

Corporal Croney took a report of criminal mischief by phone. The caller stated that someone had hit his mailbox and caused damage to his truck at his residence, but he did not wish to pursue charges.

Deputy Pollard handled an injury to a child report in the lobby. The mother stated that her daughter had been injured by her father while at his house, but she did not wish to pursue charges, and the injuries appeared to be minor.

Deputies responded to a welfare concern on Hwy 515, where the caller reported that his brother had gone to meet a friend and hadn't returned in several hours. Deputies located the missing male, who had fallen asleep while visiting a friend.

August 26

Corporal Croney took an identity theft report in the lobby. The victim received a prepaid card in the mail that she hadn't ordered. An incident report was filed.

Corporal Croney also took a theft report by phone. The caller had made an agreement with someone to move a camper and would receive payment after the job was completed. However, the suspect now refused to pay for the services, and an offense report was filed.

Deputies responded to a disturbance on Hwy 80. The victim had major injuries, and the suspect had fled the scene. Deputies located and arrested Harold Parker for aggravated assault with serious bodily injury.

August 27

Sgt Morrison responded to a criminal mischief report in Holiday Village. A vehicle struck the property owner's mailbox and a pole, causing damage. Deputies located the suspect's vehicle, and an offense report was filed.

Deputy Pollard responded to the Quitman ER for an assault. The victim reported that two males and a female had assaulted him with a hammer. However, he did not provide any suspect information and did not wish to pursue charges.

Deputy Way responded to a burglary of a vehicle on FM 14. An abandoned vehicle had been broken into, and the suspect had removed the registration. The vehicle owner did not wish to pursue charges.

Sgt Morrison and Corporal Croney were dispatched to a disturbance on County Road 2276. The victim reported that his ex-wife had shown up at his residence and struck him on the head with her fist. Deputies observed injuries to the victim, and Meredith Sanders was placed in custody for assault.

August 28

Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person on County Road 1670. The property owner reported that a female was sleeping in his driveway. Deputies provided assistance to the female, who stated she did not have a place to stay, and they gave her a ride to her job.

Deputy Kovic responded to a report of illegal dumping on County Road 3947. A caller reported that a truck had been dumping tires on a vacant lot. This case will be forwarded to the environmental department.

Deputy Comeaux was dispatched to a suicidal subject. The subject was an elderly person with dementia who was attempting to hurt herself. Deputies successfully arranged for the subject to be transported to receive treatment.

Sgt Mayer was dispatched to a suspicious circumstance on FM 49. The caller reported that when she and her niece entered the house, they heard someone call out her niece's name twice. Deputies searched the area but did not locate anyone.

August 29

Deputies responded to a theft on Hwy 154. The caller reported missing items when he came to check his property. The property owner is expected to provide more information at a later time.

Sgt Mayer and Deputy Comeaux were dispatched to a suicidal subject. The subject indicated he was experiencing a mental crisis, and deputies arranged for him to receive treatment.

Corporal Burdick initiated a traffic stop on County Road 2150 and discovered a small amount of narcotics, which were confiscated.
