CELESTE, Texas - Two people were seriously injured Monday afternoon after a box truck rolled over in a major crash near Celeste, prompting a multi-agency emergency response and two medical helicopter transports.
The crash occurred at approximately 3 p.m. on Aug. 3 near the intersection of U.S. Highway 69 and Farm-to-Market Road 903.
The Celeste Volunteer Fire Department said Station 23 was dispatched to the scene for a major motor vehicle accident.
Rescue 123 arrived to find a single box truck overturned on its side with extensive rollover damage.
Firefighters from Station 23 and paramedics with AMR Hunt County treated two patients at the scene for serious injuries.
Both victims were airlifted to a Level I trauma center in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. PHI Air Medical McKinney Med 2 and Air Evac Lifeteam 65 of Sherman transported the patients.
Authorities have not released the identities of the injured individuals or provided an update on their conditions.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
