Upshur County Sex Offender Compliance Sweep Results in Two Arrests, Five New Criminal Investigations

UPSHUR COUNTY, Texas - A countywide sex offender compliance operation led to the arrest of two registered sex offenders and uncovered multiple alleged registration violations, according to the Upshur County Sheriff's Office.

On Aug. 2, the Upshur County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division, working alongside Criminal Investigations Division Investigator Linda Roberts, conducted a sex offender compliance check throughout the county.

Authorities said Upshur County is home to more than 200 registered sex offenders. During the operation, deputies attempted to make contact with 22 registered offenders and successfully located 19 of them.

The compliance check resulted in:

  • Two registered sex offenders being arrested on outstanding warrants.

  • Five registered sex offenders being found out of compliance with Texas Sex Offender Registration requirements, with criminal reports filed for further investigation.

The sheriff's office said it will continue conducting compliance operations to ensure registered sex offenders follow state law and to help protect the community.

Officials said the ongoing enforcement efforts are intended to maintain the integrity of Texas' sex offender registration program while enhancing public safety.
