SHERMAN, Texas - A Venezuelan national who was illegally in the United States has been sentenced to federal prison after authorities seized approximately 100 kilograms of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Grayson County.
U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs announced that Anthony Juber Viloria Colina, 32, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
On July 28, U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant sentenced Colina to 46 months in federal prison.
According to court documents, Colina was stopped for a traffic violation on Jan. 22, 2025, in Grayson County.
After consenting to a search of the vehicle, Colina opened the trunk before fleeing from the scene on foot, prosecutors said.
Law enforcement officers searched the vehicle and discovered 100 individually wrapped bricks of methamphetamine in the trunk. The narcotics weighed approximately 100 kilograms.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI and the Grayson County Sheriff's Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Erlandson prosecuted the case.
