TYLER, Texas - A Tyler man known by the nickname "Preacher" has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for trafficking methamphetamine following an investigation that uncovered large quantities of drugs, cash and a firearm.
U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs announced that 49-year-old Delbert Dan Borens Jr., also known as "Preacher," pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
On July 21, U.S. District Judge Jeremy D. Kernodle sentenced Borens to 180 months in federal prison.
According to court documents, Borens and his co-conspirators sold a total of 564.3 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant in Longview between April and June 2025.
On June 17, 2025, investigators executed a search warrant at Borens' residence.
During the search, authorities seized approximately 1,115.51 grams of methamphetamine, a firearm, drug distribution paraphernalia including digital scales, a money counter and plastic bags, along with $12,927 in cash.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Gregg County Sheriff's Office and the Longview Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lucas Machicek prosecuted the case.
