MARSHALL, Texas — Two people were killed and two others were injured in a shooting early Saturday morning at a Whataburger in Marshall.
According to the Marshall Police Department, officers responded to the restaurant on Victory Drive at approximately 1:50 a.m. on June 28 after receiving a 911 call reporting shots fired.
When officers arrived, they found four people suffering from gunshot wounds in the restaurant's parking lot.
Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Two additional victims were transported by Marshall Fire Department paramedics to local hospitals for treatment.
The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of their next of kin.
Detectives with the Marshall Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division and investigators with the Joint Harrison County Violent Crime and Narcotics Task Force responded to process the scene and begin the investigation.
Several law enforcement agencies are assisting, including the Harrison County District Attorney's Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety Texas Rangers, the Harrison County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division, Texas DPS Highway Patrol, and the Longview Police Department.
The shooting remains under active investigation.
