19-Year-Old Shot in the Neck at McKinney Apartment Complex, Dies at Hospital

MCKINNEY, Texas — The McKinney Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 19-year-old man Friday night at an apartment complex on the city's west side.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on June 19, 2026, McKinney police officers responded to reports of shots fired at the Larkin Apartments in the 2300 block of West White Street.

When officers arrived, they located 19-year-old Jose Herberto Martin inside a vehicle in the apartment complex parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.

Martin was transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment. Despite lifesaving efforts, he later died from his injuries.

Detectives with the McKinney Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and have launched an active homicide investigation.

Authorities have not released any information regarding a possible suspect or motive.

No arrests have been made as of Saturday, and investigators continue to gather evidence and interview potential witnesses.
