TEXARKANA, Texas — A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged after a 3-month-old girl was hospitalized with a skull fracture, according to the Texarkana Police Department.
Police said officers responded Thursday evening, June 4, to CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital after hospital staff reported that the infant had been brought in with a critical head injury.
Doctors determined the baby had suffered a skull fracture. She was later airlifted to Arkansas Children's Hospital for treatment.
Detective Seth Mahar and Detective Sergeant Brad Thacker launched an investigation and determined the injuries occurred while the child was under the sole care of her mother's boyfriend, identified as 22-year-old Michael Cridell Jr.
Cridell was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with Injury to a Child Causing Serious Bodily Injury.
He was booked into the Bi-State Jail, where bond was set at $500,000.
The infant remains hospitalized and is listed in serious but stable condition, according to police.
The investigation remains ongoing.
