Gregg County Deputies Arrest Suspect After Pursuit, Recover Stolen Gun and Suspected Narcotics

GREGG COUNTY, Texas - A Gregg County man faces multiple felony charges after deputies recovered a stolen vehicle, a stolen firearm, and suspected narcotics following a vehicle pursuit Wednesday night.

According to the Gregg County Sheriff's Office, deputies located a vehicle on June 3, 2026, that had been reported stolen earlier in the day from a neighboring jurisdiction.

When deputies attempted to contact the driver, the vehicle fled, leading law enforcement on a pursuit through Gregg County.

Authorities said the pursuit ended when the vehicle left the roadway and became disabled.

The driver, identified as Sammie Brewer, was taken into custody without further incident.

During the investigation, deputies discovered a stolen firearm in Brewer's possession. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Brewer was transported to the Gregg County Jail and booked on the following charges:

  • Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle
  • Theft of a Firearm
  • Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle
  • Possession of a Dangerous Drug
  • Possession of Marijuana Under Two Ounces
  • Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon
  • Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1 (two counts)

Authorities have not released additional details regarding the type or quantity of narcotics recovered.

The Gregg County Sheriff's Office said the investigation remains ongoing.
