Man Killed, Another Injured in Harrison County Family Shooting Investigation

HARLETON, Texas - The Harrison County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred Tuesday night inside a home in Harleton.

According to authorities, dispatchers were notified around 8:59 p.m. May 26 by Deanna Boer, who reported shots had been fired inside her residence on Pine Valley Road and that her son was down.

Deputies, EMS personnel, and firefighters responded to the home located at 165 Pine Valley Road in Harleton.

When first responders arrived, they located two gunshot victims inside the residence.

Investigators identified one victim as 38-year-old Jamail Boer, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was found in critical condition. Family members were performing CPR when deputies arrived.

First responders and EMS personnel continued lifesaving efforts, but Jamail Boer later died from his injuries.

The second victim, identified as 25-year-old Isaiah Boer-Joyner, sustained a gunshot wound to his hand and was transported to CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Medical Center for treatment.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division responded to investigate the shooting.

Preliminary interviews indicate a verbal altercation occurred between Isaiah and Jamail before gunfire erupted.

According to investigators, Jamail allegedly produced a handgun toward Isaiah and other family members who were inside the room, leading to an exchange of gunfire in which both men were struck.

Nancy George responded to the scene, pronounced Jamail Boer deceased, and ordered an autopsy.

Authorities said the investigation remains active and additional information may be released as it becomes available.
