SHERMAN, Texas - The Sherman Police Department arrested two men Thursday night after officers responded to reports of suspicious activity at a business on North Lee Street.
Police said officers were dispatched around 10:20 p.m. May 21 to the 400 block of North Lee Street after receiving reports that two individuals were carrying scrap metal from a business to a vehicle.
Responding officers located the suspects on the property and identified them as 41-year-old Daniel Walker and 47-year-old Robert Jones.
Investigators determined the men were allegedly stealing metal from the business.
According to police, officers also discovered multiple signs of forced entry, including a cut fence and a shattered glass door.
A Sherman Police K9 unit assisted officers in locating and arresting the suspects, who were reportedly hiding on the property.
Authorities said both men surrendered without incident.
During a probable cause search of the suspects’ vehicle, officers also discovered narcotics, investigators said.
Walker was arrested on charges of burglary of a building, unauthorized possession of certain copper or brass material, possession of a controlled substance PG 1/1-B under one gram in a drug-free zone, and possession of a dangerous drug.
Jones was arrested on charges of burglary of a building and unauthorized possession of certain copper or brass material.
