HEATH, Texas — Three suspects are in custody after a burglary call led to a high-speed chase spanning multiple counties early Saturday morning, according to the Heath Department of Public Safety.
Officers were dispatched around 2:30 a.m. May 9 to the Promontory neighborhood for a reported burglary in progress at an occupied home. As officers arrived, they spotted a vehicle leaving the area and attempted a traffic stop.
Police said the driver fled at a high rate of speed, leading to a pursuit that lasted approximately 60 miles. The chase ended near Tyler when an officer with the Van Police Department deployed a tire deflation device, causing the vehicle to crash into a ditch along Interstate 20.
Authorities said the occupants fled on foot, but officers used K9 units and drones to locate and apprehend all three suspects.
The suspects, who are from Georgia, were transported to the Rockwall County Detention Center.
Investigators said it is not yet known whether the suspects are connected to a series of burglaries reported in the area in late 2025.
The three arrested were identified as 19-year-old Azevion Juel Ison of Conyers, GA, 29-year-old Lucious Dean Lackey of Atlanta, GA, and 28-year-old Naychaun Ewing of Columbus, GA.
Multiple agencies assisted in the response, including the Fate Police Department and the Rockwall County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation remains ongoing.
