NACOGDOCHES, Texas — A local police officer remains hospitalized after suffering a serious medical emergency at his home earlier this week, according to the Nacogdoches Police Department.
Officer Spencer Tutt experienced the emergency on May 3, prompting a response from EMS, the fire department and fellow officers. First responders provided immediate medical care before he was transported to a local medical center, where he was stabilized.
He was later transferred to UT Tyler Medical Center for additional treatment and testing.
Officials said Tutt previously suffered a significant heart-related medical issue about a year ago that required surgery. This latest incident marks the second major heart-related emergency he has faced.
As of May 7, Tutt remains at UT Tyler Medical Center and is undergoing surgery to address a heart condition. Authorities said they expect him to be released within the next few days.
The department expressed appreciation for the community’s support and asked for continued thoughts and prayers for Tutt and his family as he recovers.
