MARSHALL, Texas, April 28, 2026 — A man was arrested Tuesday morning after a shooting in a residential neighborhood left a victim wounded but alive, according to the Marshall Police Department.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 7:42 a.m. to the 300 block of Oak Street following a report of gunfire. A Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy who was nearby responded immediately and found an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The deputy provided emergency aid and relayed a suspect description to dispatch.
Authorities said the victim was alert and identified the suspect as Kornelius Bell of Marshall. Additional officers from the Marshall Police Department, including patrol and Criminal Investigations Division personnel, responded along with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office. A perimeter was established and the scene was secured while Marshall Fire Department personnel assisted with medical care.
The victim was transported to Christus Good Shepherd Marshall with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
During the investigation, officers located Bell at a residence in the 300 block of Cedar Street. He was taken into custody without incident. Police said a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered at the location.
Bell has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and felon in possession of a firearm. He was booked into the Harrison County Jail.
