Two Found Dead After Fire at Queen City Truck Stop and Restaurant

CASS COUNTY, Texas — Two people were found dead following a commercial structure fire early Saturday morning in Queen City, authorities said.

According to the Cass County Sheriff's Office, deputies were notified around 5:00 a.m. April 26, 2026, of a fire at Punj Truck Stop and Indian Restaurant, located along U.S. Highway 59.

When first responders arrived, approximately 25 percent of the building was fully engulfed in flames. Local and volunteer fire departments responded and worked to contain the fire.

During the response, two deceased individuals were located on the second floor of the structure.

Officials said the victims have not yet been identified. Their names will be released once identification is confirmed and next of kin have been notified.

The Texas State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting and leading the investigation into the cause of the fire.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing, and no additional details have been released.

Officials expressed condolences to the victims’ families and those affected by the incident.
