Student Arrested After Threat at Union Hill ISD Campus in Upshur County

UPSHUR COUNTY, Texas — A student has been arrested following threatening statements made on a school campus, authorities said.

According to the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded April 23, 2026, to the Union Hill ISD campus after being notified of an incident involving a student making threats.

Officials said the statements caused fear among students and staff, prompting an immediate response due to the seriousness of the situation.

The student was taken into custody on campus without incident and charged with terroristic threat, a third-degree felony.  He was identified as Mitchell Ryan Mobley.

Authorities said Mobley remains in the Upshur County Jail awaiting arraignment.

Officials emphasized that student and staff safety remains a top priority and that all threats are taken seriously.

The investigation remains ongoing.
