TOOL, Texas — A reported burglary in progress led to the discovery of a homicide Friday night, with a suspect taken into custody at the scene.
According to the Tool Police Department, an officer responded around 8:35 p.m. April 24, 2026, to a residence in the 800 block of Bradley’s Bend.
Upon arrival, the officer entered the home and located an adult female, identified as the homeowner, suffering from apparent fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said a male suspect was found inside the residence. A brief physical altercation occurred before the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
Authorities have not released the identities of the suspect or the victim pending formal charges and notification of next of kin.
Officials said the case is being investigated as a homicide. Investigators are processing the scene, collecting evidence and conducting interviews.
Police said there is no known ongoing threat to the public.
The investigation is being conducted in coordination with the Henderson County District Attorney’s Office, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers.
