78-Year-Old Caught in Texarkana Undercover Online Sting After Driving to Meet Child

David Keggan

TEXARKANA, Texas - Texarkana Police arrested 78 year old David Keggan on Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly traveled to a prearranged location to meet a child for sexual purposes. Keggan, a resident of Queen City, is charged with online solicitation of a minor under 14 years old and possession of child pornography. He is currently held in the Bi-State Jail on a $300,000 bond.

The arrest followed an investigation into online communications Keggan believed he was having with an 11 year old girl. According to law enforcement, Keggan drove from Cass County to a Texarkana address to meet the individual, but the person he had been communicating with was an adult pretending to be a child to identify online predators. Police were notified and took Keggan into custody upon his arrival.

Detective Casey Schmidt, who is leading the investigation, has already identified at least two adult victims whose previous abuse by the suspect was never reported. Authorities stated they believe there may be additional victims in the community.

Texarkana Police are asking anyone with information regarding this case or other potential incidents involving Keggan to contact Detective Schmidt directly at 903-798-3193. The investigation remains active as detectives work to identify further leads and provide support to those affected.
