FORNEY, Texas - A rideshare driver crashed into two Forney Police Department patrol vehicles early Thursday morning while officers were working a major crash on U.S. Highway 80.
According to Forney Police, officers were on scene around 10:55 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2026, handling a multi-vehicle crash on eastbound Highway 80. Patrol units were positioned with emergency lights activated to shut down the highway and divert traffic onto the service road.
Around 12:55 a.m., a rideshare driver transporting a passenger collided with two of the marked patrol vehicles.
The crash caused significant damage to all three vehicles.
The passenger in the rideshare vehicle suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to Methodist Medical Center in Dallas. The driver was transported by ambulance to Baylor Scott and White Dallas for treatment.
Police said the two officers assigned to the scene were not inside their vehicles at the time of the crash and were not injured.
Accident investigators responded and are working to determine the cause of the collision.
Officials are reminding drivers to slow down and move over when approaching emergency vehicles with lights activated and to follow directions provided by first responders at crash scenes.
