BALCH SPRINGS, Texas - A routine traffic stop in Balch Springs led to multiple felony drug arrests and an attempted jail escape late Friday night.
On March 13, 2026, Balch Springs Police Officer A. Figueroa conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 635 after observing a vehicle swerving and failing to signal. During the investigation, the officer detected signs of intoxication from the driver and began a further investigation.
With assistance from additional responding officers, the traffic stop led to the discovery of multiple illegal narcotics, packaging materials, scales, and a loaded handgun inside the vehicle.
Officers recovered suspected cocaine, marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, Xanax, hydrocodone, Adderall, and THC vape cartridges.
Two individuals were arrested and transported to the Balch Springs City Jail, where they were booked on multiple felony drug charges as well as unlawful carrying of a weapon.
During the booking process, one of the suspects attempted to flee from the jail but was quickly apprehended by officers.
The investigation remains ongoing.
