Marshall, TX — A Center, Texas man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly fleeing from Marshall police and crashing into a Texas Department of Transportation truck.
According to the Marshall Police Department, officers were dispatched around 3:45 p.m. on March 10, 2026, after Marshall Police Emergency Telecommunications received several calls reporting a reckless driver traveling northbound on East End Boulevard (U.S. Highway 59).
Patrol units located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Near the intersection of Highway 59 and Loop 390, the driver pulled onto the shoulder and appeared to be stopping.
However, as officers approached the vehicle, the driver suddenly sped away and ran through the intersection at Loop 390, where the vehicle struck a Texas Department of Transportation truck.
The drivers of both vehicles were transported to a local medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries.
After being medically released, the driver of the fleeing vehicle was identified as 54-year-old Craig Alan Borders of Center, Texas. He was arrested by Marshall police and transported to the Harrison County Jail.
Borders faces charges of Driving While Intoxicated, Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Assistant Chief of Police Jeff Boyd thanked community members who reported the reckless driver.
“Thank you to those who called to report the reckless driver,” Boyd said. “Prompt reporting from the public helps officers respond quickly and keep our roadways safer for everyone.”
