Kemp ISD Mourns Loss of High School Sophomore

Kemp, TX — The Kemp Independent School District announced Thursday that a Kemp High School student has passed away, leaving the school community in mourning.

District officials identified the student as sophomore Maddison Dyer.

In a statement released March 5, Kemp ISD expressed condolences to Dyer’s family and acknowledged the impact of her loss on the school community.

“Maddison’s passing deeply impacts our connected Kemp community and her presence will be irreplaceable,” said Superintendent Dr. James Young. “We ask that you take a moment of pause to remember this bright young lady, her contributions to Kemp ISD, and the light that she was to all who knew her.”

Dyer was a member of the Kemp High School Yellowjackets varsity girls basketball team.

School officials said they are asking the community to keep Dyer’s family and loved ones in their thoughts during this difficult time.

Out of respect for the family’s privacy, the district did not release information about the cause of death.

Kemp ISD also announced that school counselors were available on March 5 and will continue to be available in the coming days and weeks to support students and staff.
