NEWTON COUNTY, Texas - Two men were arrested Monday evening, February 23rd, after a vehicle linked to multiple dangerous driving complaints across Newton County was stopped by law enforcement, authorities said.
Over the past several weeks, Newton County law enforcement received numerous reports about a black Chevrolet Silverado bearing the words “The Mechanic” on the rear window. Complainants reported the vehicle was being driven erratically and placing motorists in danger.
At approximately 7:43 p.m., Sheriff Colton Havard spotted the vehicle traveling southbound on State Highway 87 in Trout Creek and initiated a traffic stop.
Deputies identified the driver as Kenny Rebel Dewayne Price, who authorities said did not have a valid driver’s license. Price was arrested and charged with driving while license invalid.
The passenger, identified as Lane Michael Sones, was found to have an active warrant issued by Texas Pardons and Parole for a parole violation and was flagged as armed and dangerous. Deputies took Sones into custody without incident.
Both individuals were transported to the Newton County Jail. Authorities said no injuries were reported during the stop.
