Van Zandt County Detectives Seek Public Help Identifying Suspect in Fruitvale Copper Wire Theft

FRUITVALE, Texas - The Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect connected to a burglary reported earlier this month along U.S. Highway 80.

Investigators said the incident occurred at approximately 1:08 a.m. on Feb. 6 in the 1300 block of U.S. Highway 80, where a suspect unlawfully entered a property and stole two rolls of copper wire.

The property owner captured two photographs showing the suspect and the vehicle involved. Detectives believe the vehicle may be either a silver Toyota RAV4 or a Ford Escape.

Authorities are requesting anyone who recognizes the suspect or vehicle, or who has information related to the burglary, to contact the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at 903-567-4133. Anonymous tips may also be submitted to Investigator D. Henson by email at dhenson@vanzandtcounty.org.

Officials thanked community members for their continued cooperation as the investigation remains ongoing.
