COLLINSVILLE, Texas - The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred following a major vehicle crash Wednesday evening near the intersection of Old Town Road and Walden Lane in Collinsville.
On February 11, 2026, at approximately 5:00 p.m., dispatchers received multiple calls reporting a serious crash in the area. While first responders were en route to the scene, additional calls came in reporting gunshots nearby.
When law enforcement arrived, they secured the area as emergency medical personnel began treating an injured individual. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle involved in the crash, was airlifted to an area hospital for medical treatment.
Preliminary findings indicate the crash involved only one vehicle. Witnesses reported that individuals in the area approached the vehicle in an effort to assist the driver. During that interaction, an armed confrontation allegedly occurred, resulting in the driver being shot.
Authorities have since confirmed that one of the individuals involved in the shooting, identified as Bradley Bennett, has died.
The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is leading the investigation in coordination with the Texas Ranger Division of the Texas Department of Public Safety. Officials say the investigation remains active, and no further details will be released at this time in order to protect its integrity.
Several agencies assisted in responding to and securing the scene, including the Tioga Police Department, Collinsville Police Department, Collinsville Fire Department, Whitesboro Police Department, Whitesboro Fire Department, and the Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol.
Residents in the area are thanked for their cooperation and patience while authorities temporarily closed the roadway during the investigation.
