SHERMAN, Texas — A 36-year-old dentist was arrested Monday after police say she was intoxicated while treating patients at a dental office on Loy Lake Road.
According to the Sherman Police Department, dispatch received a call at approximately 12:04 p.m. on February 16, 2026, from a dental office in the 2800 block of Loy Lake Road reporting that a dentist appeared to be under the influence while performing procedures.
Officers arrived at the location and made contact with the dentist, identified as Kelly Buck, 36. Police said they observed signs of intoxication and confirmed Buck had been treating patients throughout the morning.
Buck was arrested and charged with Performing Surgery While Intoxicated, a state jail felony under the Texas Occupations Code.
Investigators also learned that Buck was not a permanent employee of the dental office. She was reportedly working in a temporary capacity through a staffing agency at the time of the incident.
The department’s Criminal Investigations Division obtained a search warrant for a blood specimen as part of the ongoing investigation. Buck was transported to the Grayson County Jail.
The investigation remains active.
