Hunt County Deputies Arrest Greenville Man After Stolen Vehicle Pursuit

Jeremy Duane Wright

On Sunday, January 4, 2026, Hunt County deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle within county limits. A deputy later spotted the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over and accelerated.

Additional units joined the pursuit, and deputies were ultimately able to bring the vehicle to a stop. With weapons drawn, deputies ordered the driver to exit the vehicle. He was taken into custody without further incident.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies located drug paraphernalia. The driver was identified as 37-year-old Jeremy Duane Wright of Greenville, Texas. Wright was charged with Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. His total bond was set at $50,000.

According to court records, Wright has a prior criminal history in Dallas County that includes drug-related offenses, evading arrest with a vehicle, criminal trespass, and vehicle theft. In April 2024, he was convicted of drug possession and sentenced to 15 months in state jail, with records indicating his release in July 2025. In February 2023, Wright was also convicted of stealing a vehicle and sentenced to 10 months in state jail.  Before that, he was on probation for another conviction.

This individual does not seem to learn from past mistakes.

The case remains under the jurisdiction of the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office.
