The Henderson County Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested a 33-year-old Kerens man after he allegedly traveled to Athens to meet what he believed was a child for sexual purposes.
On December 8, 2025, investigators took Oscar Campos, 33, into custody in the parking lot of the Walmart in Athens. According to officials, Campos had been communicating online and by phone with someone he believed to be a minor and had engaged in sexually explicit conversations.
When Campos arrived at the location and attempted to enter the vehicle where he thought the child would be, he was instead confronted by a Task Force investigator. Campos tried to run but was caught moments later without further incident.
The Task Force stated that it continues to focus on proactive operations aimed at identifying individuals who target children online. The case is still under investigation, and authorities say additional charges may be filed.
