Van Zandt County Deputies Arrest Two Suspects Following Bank Robbery in Edom

Van Zandt County, Texas – Deputies moved quickly Friday morning after receiving a report of an armed robbery in progress at the First State Bank of Ben Wheeler in Edom. The call came in around 9:30 AM on December 5, 2025, prompting an immediate response from the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office and nearby agencies.

Dispatchers relayed details from witnesses, including a description of the suspect vehicle: a gray Nissan pickup with a bed cover, chrome front bumper, and Texas plates. The truck was reportedly occupied by two individuals, a black female driver and a black male passenger, both wearing gray hoodies.

A short time later, deputies and assisting officers tracked the vehicle to its registered address in the Ben Wheeler community. When officers arrived, they found two individuals matching the descriptions provided by bank staff. Both were detained without any complications.

No injuries were reported during the incident, and officials say there is no ongoing threat to the public. The suspects were taken to the Van Zandt County Detention Center for processing.

The investigation is still underway, and authorities have not released further details at this time.
