Forney, TX – Three people are in custody after a routine traffic stop turned into a foot pursuit through the Gateway Parks neighborhood Wednesday evening, according to the Forney Police Department.
Around 6:38 p.m. on November 19, officers pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation in the subdivision. As officers began their investigation, one of the male passengers ran from the scene, setting off an extensive search of the area.
Forney officers were joined by the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and the Precinct 2 Constable’s Office. A K9 team, drone operators, and a bicycle unit were all brought in to help track the suspect. Residents in Gateway Parks also played a key role, giving officers timely information that helped contain the search area.
The fleeing suspect was eventually located and taken into custody without force. Two additional occupants from the original traffic stop were also arrested. Details about the charges have not yet been released.
Police thanked both the assisting agencies and the community members who helped bring the situation to a safe resolution.
