Marshall police have charged five people in connection with the shooting death of a local man late last month.
On October 26, 2025, officers were called to the 1900 block of Bean Street around 8:56 p.m. after several reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found 48-year-old Carlos Dewayne Hill of Marshall dead at the scene. The shooters had already fled.
Detectives, crime scene personnel, and patrol officers worked the case alongside the Joint Harrison County Violent Crime & Narcotics Task Force, the Arlington Police Department, and the Harrison County District Attorney’s Office. Their investigation led to the arrest of five suspects now facing charges tied to the killing.

Those charged include:
• Demetreus Demond Hooper, 45, of Marshall, Murder and Assault/Family Violence (previous warrant)
• Jeremy Demon Williams, 38, of Marshall, Murder, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana
• Trevian Dwight Leary, 28, of Marshall, Murder and Tampering with Physical Evidence
• Corey Dewayne Wilbert, Jr., 21, of Arlington, Murder
• Jada Shakera Hooker, 24, of Marshall, Tampering with Physical Evidence
Police Chief Cliff Carruth said he’s proud of the joint effort that helped move the case forward, noting that teamwork across agencies was key to getting the arrests made. He also shared condolences with Hill’s family and said the department remains focused on ensuring justice is served.
