Lufkin, Texas – DeMarcus Jones, 49, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 55-year-old Tyrone Williams.
The incident occurred Thursday night in the 200 block of Bowles Street. Lufkin Police responded to calls of gunfire around 10:40 p.m. and found Williams in a common parking area between homes with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses identified Jones as the shooter. Detectives located him overnight at an apartment in the 500 block of Charlton Street and arrested him without incident. According to authorities, a verbal dispute between Jones and Williams escalated into a physical altercation, and a weapon found nearby matched the caliber of spent shell casings recovered at the scene.
Jones is currently booked into the Angelina County Jail, with bail pending. The investigation remains active.
