On November 3, 2025, officers from the Trinidad Police Department arrested Travis Reed after he attempted to flee from law enforcement and hide in a wooded area near the Sunoco gas station in Trinidad, Texas.
According to the department, Chief Gregory initially responded to a harassment call at the gas station when Reed, who had active warrants, fled the scene on foot. He entered a nearby wooded area in an effort to evade arrest.
Chief Gregory immediately requested backup, prompting a coordinated response from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Tool Police Department, Malakoff Police Department, and Log Cabin Police Department. A perimeter was quickly established, and JLJ Auto Recovery deployed a thermal drone to assist with the search.
After an extensive effort, Reed was located in the woods and taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Henderson County Jail.
Chief Gregory praised the teamwork that led to the arrest, saying:
“The successful apprehension of Reed is a direct result of teamwork and strong inter-agency collaboration. We are grateful for the rapid response and support from our partner agencies. Their assistance and the use of advanced technology ensured a safe and efficient resolution.”
He also thanked local residents for their vigilance:
“It would have been much more difficult to apprehend Reed without the community calling in each time he was seen running through their yards. If you see something, say something.”
