Livingston, Texas - The Livingston Police Department is investigating a tragic incident after officers discovered a woman and her young son dead from apparent gunshot wounds late Saturday night.
According to police, the Lufkin Police Department alerted Livingston officers on November 1, 2025, about a woman expressing suicidal thoughts who was traveling with a male juvenile and might be in the area. Lufkin officers also provided two possible vehicle descriptions to assist in the search.
Around 10:47 p.m., Livingston officers located one of the vehicles parked on the shoulder in the 800 block of U.S. Highway 59 South. When they approached, they found 27-year-old Adelia Garcia Torres and her 8-year-old son, Cesar Ulyses Enriquez, both from Lufkin, deceased inside from apparent single gunshot wounds.
After reviewing evidence from both agencies, investigators determined there is no ongoing threat to the public.
“Our hearts go out to the victims’ family and friends as they try to move forward after this tragic incident,” the department said in a statement. “We are grateful to the Lufkin Police Department, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Rangers for their assistance in this investigation.”
