Commerce Police Arrest Fugitive Wanted in Two Violent Offenses

Demathis Parker

COMMERCE, Texas – A man wanted in connection with two violent offenses in Commerce has been arrested after an extensive, multi-agency search.

The Commerce Police Department confirmed that Demathis Parker was taken into custody this morning at a location in the 1900 block of Hickory Street. Parker had been the subject of two arrest warrants issued on August 18, 2025, following an investigation launched earlier that month.

Authorities say Parker fled the area after the offenses and was believed to have left the state. Due to the nature of the crimes and his suspected flight, the U.S. Marshals Service joined the search. After Parker returned to Commerce, officers from both agencies coordinated to locate and apprehend him.

Parker was processed at the Commerce Police Department and booked into the Hunt County Jail.

“I would like to thank the continued efforts of officers from both the United States Marshals Task Force and the Commerce Police Department, who never stopped searching for Mr. Parker,” said Chief of Police Corley Weatherford. “Their dedication to investigating, locating, and apprehending violent offenders is crucial to ensuring the safety of the public.”
