The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has expanded its Aircraft Operations Division with the addition of a new Cessna 208 Caravan equipped with advanced technology to enhance law enforcement operations across the state.

Stationed at McKinney Airport in the North Texas Region, the aircraft—designated N968TX—will support aerial surveillance, tactical response, and emergency operations for DPS and partner agencies. The new plane features high-definition imaging, infrared systems, advanced mapping tools, and satellite-based communications that allow real-time data sharing between air and ground units.

“This is a game-changer for all law enforcement across Texas,” said DPS Chief Pilot Stacy Holland. “With this advanced technology and real-time connectivity, our teams can transmit live situational data from the sky directly to command staff and field units, giving everyone the same real-time picture.”

The aircraft’s satellite connectivity allows live video and audio transmission to command centers, improving coordination during critical incidents.

“This aircraft is a force multiplier for the North Texas region,” added Region Chief Jeremy Sherrod. “The technology on board gives our teams a new level of awareness, and Texans can sleep better at night knowing we have this new asset to support our law enforcement partners.”

The aircraft is dedicated in memory of Lt. Pilot Jerry “Ray” Ragan, a longtime DPS pilot who passed away in 2020 after a battle with brain cancer. Ragan served the state of Texas for more than 19 years, including a decade as a pilot in the Aircraft Operations Division.
