Louisiana Homicide Suspects Apprehended in Marshall After Multi-State High-Speed Chase

Three Louisiana men were arrested following a dramatic high-speed pursuit that stretched from Ruston, LA, into Marshall, TX. The chase began after Ruston Police responded to a shooting at the USA Travel Plaza convenience store, located at 2500 West Alabama Avenue, around 11:50 p.m. on Thursday. Surveillance footage identified 31-year-old Virgil Mack Jr. of Dubach, LA, and his vehicle as suspects in the unprovoked homicide of 35-year-old Ontario Spivey of Ruston.

Louisiana State Police initiated a pursuit, which crossed into Texas. Harrison County deputies took the lead near the state line and coordinated with Marshall Police, who deployed spike strips at Alamo and Grand to stop the vehicle. Mack was arrested for murder, and his two passengers—37-year-old Kourtney Douglass of Ruston and 22-year-old Kobe Mack of Dubach—were also taken into custody. Douglass faces charges for evading arrest with a vehicle, while Kobe Mack is charged with murder.

Sheriff B.J. Fletcher confirmed that his office worked closely with Louisiana authorities to coordinate extradition and ensure the suspects are returned to Louisiana for proper prosecution.
