Suspect Arrested After Firing Shots at Man at Rusk County Convenience Store

RUSK COUNTY, Texas—A man has been arrested following a high-speed chase after he allegedly shot at another man's truck following a verbal altercation at a convenience store.

On Friday morning, August 29, the Rusk County Sheriff's Office received a call about a shooting at Bunny's convenience store at the intersection of Hwy. 64 and Hwy. 42. A caller reported that a man driving a black four-door car had fired several rounds into his truck.

According to the victim, he and the suspect had a verbal altercation inside the store. The suspect then waited outside, and as the victim drove away and stopped at a stop sign, the suspect shot into his truck before fleeing the scene.

Investigators used an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) camera to track the suspect, later identified as the driver of a Cadillac CTS, driving south through Nacogdoches County. Rusk County investigators contacted the Angelina County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Highway Patrol for assistance.

After a short vehicle pursuit in Diboll, the suspect was taken into custody. Investigators went to Lufkin, served an Aggravated Assault warrant, and transported the man to the Rusk County Jail. The name of the suspect has not yet been released.

Rusk County Sheriff's Office thanked the Angelina County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Highway Patrol for their assistance in the arrest.
