High-Speed Chase Through Newton County Ends With Arrest on US 190

Caiden Joseph Walker

NEWTON COUNTY, Texas — A Newton County man was arrested early Saturday morning following a high-speed pursuit that began outside the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.

On August 23, 2025, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Deputy C.J. Forsythe observed a white Ford F-250 run a stop sign at the intersection of Rusk and Court Streets before nearly colliding with Stellar Bank. The driver stopped in front of the Sheriff’s Office on Main Street, honked the horn, and then sped off toward S Loop 505 when Forsythe approached the vehicle.

Forsythe attempted a traffic stop, but the driver—later identified as Caiden Joseph Walker—fled, reaching speeds of more than 100 miles per hour in the opposite lane of travel on US 190. The chase ended near County Road 4002, where Walker finally stopped.

Walker refused to exit his vehicle and was forcefully removed before being taken into custody. While Deputy Forsythe and Newton Police Officer Kevin McGarrahan were speaking at the scene, Walker managed to escape from the patrol unit but was quickly apprehended again.

Walker was transported to the Newton County Jail, where he was charged with:

  • Evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle (F3)

  • Resist arrest, search, or transportation (MA)

  • Escape from custody (F3)
